It is my pleasure to review Baseball Slugger: Home Run Race 3D. The opening game video is awesome. It shows how much fun I get from getting a hit from my baseball bat.
Honestly, I am a baseball newbie when it comes to Baseball games. However, the game makes it simple for newbie like us to play. There are various game modes to play: Matchup, Arcade, Classic and Training.
The Matchup game mode allows you to join online game rooms to wait for players from around the world. There are a total of four game rooms to join. There are game rooms for Rookies, Sluggers, Champions and free for all ranks room. Certainly, there is something for everyone.
But to join the matchup mode, you need to ensure your wireless connection is connected on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
The rules of the matchup game mode is that whoever’s red homerun gauge reaches its maximum at the top of the screen wins the match.
The winner in the matchup game mode will receive winning points and gold balls. The loser will have his winning points deducted. As you compete against the other players, you will find your rank going up from Rookie, Slugger, Star to Legend. You can always add your rival to your rival list in the game and send them the challenge when they are online.
The Arcade game mode lets you record your best score with Homeruns and bonus points. Strikes and Fouls will increase the number of ball out counts. You will get a foul when you hit the ball out of the baseball field. Similarly, a strike is achieved when you fail to snag the ball when the pitcher throws the ball in your direction. The game is over when you accumulate 10 ball out counts. You will find that the game statistics are different compared to the classic game mode.
The Classic game mode records your best Homerun score. In this game mode, the pitcher will only throw straight balls. Homeruns are counted as HR balls. If you failed to hit the ball, it will be counted as an OUT ball. Similarly, if you hit the ball out of the baseball field, it will be counted as out too. The game is over if you reach 10 ball out counts.
The Training mode enables you to train yourself with different pitchers, balls and speed. This allows you to prepare yourself to play against the online opponents in Matchup mode.
There are a few game options to choose before you play this game. You can adjust the volume of the game sound effects and the background music. You can even set the introduction video to be turned off and play your own music from your music library on your iPhone or iPod Touch when playing the game.
You can customize the look of your player in the game by buying baseball bats, jerseys and selecting their types of hair with your gold. If you do not have enough gold, you will find that the items are locked and unable to purchase.
The game controls are pretty straightforward in this game. You just need to tilt to control where you want to swing your bat and touch any part of the screen to hit the ball.
This game is very addicting. I recommended it to my colleagues at work and they play this game during their lunch breaks. The most addicting part of this game is when you hit the ball, the game will show where your ball will travel across the sports stadium with the crowd cheering you up. That is just like thinking you are playing in a real sport stadium with thousands of people watching you.
