Globs Game Review

14 Mar

This is a fast action shooter game, You play as Nerdmen, the geeky biologist who must collect glob eye balls for his research. You have to defend yourself with your blaster against an angry army of green gooey goobers. This is a full version of the game. The beta word is misleading in the game’s menu. The developer should remove it to prevent confusion. 🙂

My impressions of this game:

1. The graphics in the space landscapes are well-drawn. Sound effects are done beautifully. When firing your blaster, the laser beams can bounce off walls like liquids and hit the goobers too!

2. You have two controls. One is the Dpad (direction pad) and the other is the blaster control. You can rotate the blaster gun in the direction you wish to shoot. However, I have some difficulty trying to press the up direction for jumping. The developer is working on improving the controls and adding additional controller types.

3. The game tutorial is quite long. However, it teaches the player the basics of the game and you cannot play the game stages until you complete the tutorial. This is clearly stated in iTunes.

4. The green gobbers will attack you by sticking to your head and feet. In order to shake them off your head, you have to press duck a few times. When they stick to your feet, you cannot move and you have to use your blaster gun to shoot them off your feet. You should duck to avoid globs and hazards. When collecting eye balls, just stop firing and walk over to the direction of the dropping eye balls. Remember to watch for the cliff as I always fall down the cliff when collecting those eye balls!

5. Currently, the game is using an action mode where the objective is to collect the number of eyeballs within a stage. An adventure mode is in the making. This changes the gameplay where the player’s objective to to reach the end stages of the game without eyeballs collection.

Overall, it is an enjoyable game provided you like playing platform games and shooting a blaster gun. Who would not like to be a geeky scientist these days?

Get it here on iTunes for $0.99.
